Through offerings like Nature Pals for our youngest learners, summer camps, birthday parties, bunny socials, field trips, and community classes, we provide hands-on, outdoor experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence, and foster connection to the natural world.
These programs are designed as flexible, a la carte opportunities for children and families to engage with ROOTS—whether they are part of our school community or simply looking for enriching, nature-based experiences. From first introductions to nature to immersive seasonal events, each program is rooted in our mission to make learning experiential, joyful, and connected to real life.

Take a guided walk through our pollinator gardens to discover the importance of native plants and biodiversity. Learn about beekeeping, pollinators, and how to create pollinator-friendly habitats at home or school. Students can even build bee hotels or seed bombs to take with them.
Pollinators & Native Plants
Join a hands-on composting demonstration and explore how food waste cycles back into soil health. Learn how we integrates waste reduction through sustainable practices like closed-loop gardening and animal husbandry. Students will be challenged to create zero-waste solutions for their own communities.
Waste Reduction & Circular Economy
Explore soil health, composting, and sustainable farming with hands-on activities. Tour our gardens, food forest, and high tunnel while learning how we integrate permaculture into our homestead. Depending on the season, students can plant, harvest, or save seeds.
Regenerative Farming & Ecosystem Restoration
Take a guided tour through our gardens and meet our friendly farm animals while engaging in a nature sensory walk. Learn about permaculture design and enjoy optional free play in our nature playscape.

We welcome groups of all sizes and will tailor the experience to fit your needs. Field trips typically last 1.5 hours, depending on the activities chosen.
Bring your students or group to our homestead for an unforgettable hands-on learning experience! Our field trips are designed to engage children in the wonders of nature, sustainability, and self-sufficiency through interactive activities, animal encounters, and outdoor exploration. Each trip is fully customizable to fit your group’s interests, making it an enriching and educational adventure for all ages.
